Areas of Special Focus

PTSD
ARC’s Posttraumatic Stress Disorder treatment program is an integrated model utilizing evidence based treatment techniques. Our small gender—specific groups meet 4 times a week to address issues of safety, substance abuse, mourning, trauma reenactment and reconnecting to community. Groups incorporate a didactic approach, with conservative experiential and expressive therapies. Grounding techniques are taught, and patients assemble therapeutic tools that permit them to transcend fear based impulses. In addition, an education group on various aspects of the trauma-addiction interaction meets weekly. Additional individual psychotherapy and therapeutic techniques, including EMDR and DBT are also incorporated.

Eating Disorders
Therapeutic resources are available for patients with a diagnosis of an eating disorder that is in remission, or for those with other nutritional issues. Body image groups and individual rehab, recovery, alcoholism, intervention, drug addictiontherapy with an eating disorder specialist focuses on ongoing aspects of nutritional balance and eating disorder recovery. Special needs are assessed and individual nutritional therapy is available.

Recovery Through Relapse Prevention
As a primary focus of the ARC Program, multiple groups emphasize commitment, spirituality and responsibility through the 12 step philosophy. Emphasis is placed on the impact of complex emotional issues in the relapse process. All patients are transported to 12 step support groups in the community daily, and acquiring a local 12 step sponsor is an integral part of the continuum of care.
